xcdump utility

How to use xcdump utility? What are the command line arguments to be given
in xcdump? xcdump is reading from the file, but I could not understand from
which file it was reading.
I want to print the contents of the encoded data and decoded data, can I use
xcdump for it? If xcdump can be used then when should I run the xcdump
utility just before sending data or run any time?
If xcdump, cannot be used in which file do I need to add the mechanism to
print the data?
